Artist in Residence Interview - Nico + Caleb
Our Artist in Residence program is relatively new and we’ve tried to get in the habit of interviewing our guest artists upon their departure. The Interview magazine idea of having an artist interview another artist is appealing to us and for this recent interview we asked two of our Artists in Residence to sit down for a little talk. This is what they had to say about their experience.

Caleb Lázaro Moreno (See Elem) is a Peruvian-American artist-scholar hailing from the ranges of Angmar. As composer and multi-instrumentalist, See thrives in the production of songs, sounds, and sorceries that transgress the bounds of genre and normative nostalgia. They also study how stories are shared, how dreams inform our sense of what’s real, and how we might be able to more effectively trick ourselves into dreaming up states of embodiment and communication that are creatively decolonial, non-authoritarian, and post-expertise. See is also a PhD candidate in the Department of American Studies at the University of Kansas, where they are developing a mixed-media alternative to the traditional interview.
