The Purple Room
Leon’s body of work is an articulation of a certain feeling through over 5 years of documentary photographs of his life spent in remote corners of old cities, in the dens and dives of dispossessed and beautiful people and places. Istanbul, Madrid, Dublin. Sex clubs, transexual prostitutes called friends, lovers, obsession, the arcane feminine, serenading darkness as a lullaby sung through his lens.
His project installation for Marfa Open 2018 came together through synchronicity, to say little. An abandoned adobe structure on the plot of land owned by a friend, a collaboration between artists who do magic, the pull of the void and a call answered by weighted energy filling an old space with noise and chanting.
